Privacy Policy & Data Handling

Last updated: September 2026

This policy describes how data is handled within the RoadWindow trip planning application.

Current Data Handling Practices

1. Origin & Destination Searches

Place search terms and geographic coordinates entered in the planner are processed on our servers to evaluate route candidate windows and generate trip departure recommendations.

2. Browser Geolocation Usage

Your browser location is requested only when you explicitly click the “Use Current Location” button. Coordinates are used solely to populate your departure origin.

3. Google Maps Platform Integration

RoadWindow relies on Google Places API for address autocomplete and reverse geocoding, and Google Routes API for predictive traffic duration estimates. Interactions sent to Google APIs are subject to the Google Privacy Policy.

4. No User Accounts Required

RoadWindow does not require registration, login credentials, passwords, or personal account creation to use the departure planning tools.

5. No Continuous Background Tracking

The current implementation of RoadWindow does not collect background location tracking or maintain user location profiles.

6. Analytics & Usage Measurement

We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to collect aggregated, non-personally identifiable usage statistics (such as feature usage, trip option selections, and performance metrics) to understand product usage and improve system quality. Exact coordinates, raw place names, and search terms are not transmitted to analytics services.
